A classic of Barcelona
On one of the most popular streets in the cosmopolitan Born district stands Parellada, a restaurant with an inn tradition, known as one of the city’s classics. A leading restaurant in Catalan cuisine since 1983, its recipes transport us back to the flavours of an entire lifetime; enjoy the most visceral and authentic gastronomy in a classical-colonial historical building that breathes art and culture.
The repertoire of dishes making up the menu of Parellada is a reflection of the vitality the heritage of our cuisine enjoys today. Casseroles, roasts, rice dishes and picades are magnificently represented in dishes that have become icons of the restaurant such as the Paella Parellada, cannelloni, roasted lamb with twelve heads of garlic, escudella and cap i pota.
Foreseeing that the Born would be the district of the future, in 1983 Ramon Parellada transformed a former guesthouse with a history of more than 150 years into one of the pioneers to provide Catalan cuisine in Barcelona. A historical building that used to offer accommodation, menus, baths, and tickets for the steamships to the Americas. The building’s dining room still preserves that aroma: an atmosphere of travelling mixed with the steam from the casseroles on the stove.
