The origins of Parellada date back to the Fonda Europa in Granollers, an inn run by the Parellada family who had vast experience in the hospitality business in Catalonia. Ramon Parellada, who had been raised between pots and pans and the marvellous stories of guests such as Josep Pla and Eugeni Xammar, decided to transfer this concept to the big city. Drawn by the hustle and bustle of the market and the sea breeze from the port, he chose the Born as the district to start his own project: an urban inn.
Parellada opened in 1983 and quickly became a fashionable establishment, not only because it was one of the first restaurants to offer traditional Catalan cuisine in the city, but also on account of its BOURGEOIS-BOHÈME atmosphere. Years later, he completed this project with the 43 rooms of the stylish Banys Orientals Hotel, designed by the renowned Lázaro Rosa-Violán. A restaurant and a hotel, the perfect duo for a sensorial welcome to the Born district.
